Tonya Leggett McIntosh was both a dynamic women’s basketball player and a successful coach for the Lady Wildcat program. McIntosh played at Louisiana College from the 1988-89 season through the 1991-1992 season and coached there from 2000-2006.

McIntosh came to LC’s campus after enjoying a stellar prep career at Zwolle High School. While at Zwolle, McIntosh was a two-time All-State player, Class 2A State Tournament MVP, and helped lead her team to the 1987 Louisiana Class 2A State Championship. While a player on the Lady Wildcat basketball team, Leggett was named All-Conference three times (1990, 91, and 92), Player of the Year in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (1991), All-Louisiana twice (1991 and 92), and was a Second Team NAIA All-American (1992). During the 1990-91 season, McIntosh led the GCAC in assists per game (5.1) and three-point field goal percentage (41.8). During the 1991-92 season, Leggett ranked second in the GCAC in scoring (22.3 ppg), second in assists per game (4.7), and once again led the conference in three-point field goal shooting (42.3). McIntosh helped lead the Lady Wildcats to one of the best four-year periods in program history. During her four years on the Pineville campus, the Lady Wildcats compiled an overall record of 79-37 while winning two district championships and one Gulf Coast Athletic Conference championship.

On the bench as the Lady Wildcat head coach, McIntosh totaled 80 wins and led her teams to post-season play three times. She has also had coaching stints at Anacoco High School, Zwolle High School, Jena High School, and she is currently the head women’s basketball coach at Holy Savior Menard High School.

McIntosh, who graduated from Louisiana College in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Fitness and Wellness, is married to Michael McIntosh. They reside in Pineville with their three children, Brett, Karis, and John Michael.
