Lori Thames, a 1985 graduate of LC, has been a fixture on the Louisiana College campus for years now, first as a student, then as a coach and now as an administrator.
As a student athlete, she was a strong leader on the team, averaging six rebounds and nine points per game despite being plagued with injuries. She was named All-GCAC and NAIA All-District 30 and was known as a fierce competitor. She scored a career high 27 points against Nicholls in 1982 and 16 rebounds against Belhaven in 1981.
Hired as Assistant Lady Wildcat Basketball Coach after graduating from LC, she had a successful 11 year tenure in that position. Working with three different head coaches, she helped the Lady Cats to three National Tournaments and in 1986 finished third in the nation.
Her devotion to the school and to the athletic program was evident in her participation in the Wildcat Athletic Association. For years, Thames was the Liason Officer between the athletic department and the WAA.
Thames moved from her coaching to position into the position of Dean of Students in 1996. Thames remained in this position until 2006. The Wildcat Athletic Association proudly inducted Lori Thames into the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame on February 26, 1998.
