Hall of Fame
Despite not playing a sport at Louisiana College, perhaps no other name in the Louisiana College Athletic Hall of Fame is more synonymous with winning than Tom Collins.
Simply put, Collins is one of the most successful and revered high school basketball coaches not only in Louisiana, but the entire nation. After a 29 year career at the helm of Atlanta High School’s men’s basketball program, Collins racked up an astounding 892-258 record, 5 state titles, and 3 state title runner-up finishes.
Collins’ 892 career wins rank him 20th on the nation’s list of all-time winnigest head basketball coaches, and 3rd in the history of Louisiana high school basketball. His average of 30.8 win per season is almost unheard of in the high school ranks. Worthy of note, Collins coached Marcus Smith, who himself went on to become a member of the LC Athletic Hall Of Fame, at Atlanta.
