Denton "Dobie" Perkins

A 1989 Louisiana College graduate, Denton "Dobie" Perkins was an outstanding LC athlete who has continued to make contributions both to athletics in general and to the LC athletic program.

While a student at Louisiana College, Mr. Perkins was the catcher on the 1987 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship baseball team. He had a career batting average of .261 with 12 home runs and 79 RBIs.

Mr. Perkins only year as the head coach at Marksville yielded a 25-5 record. He led his team to the state semi-finals. He was the state AAA and District 3-AAA Coach of the Year.

As baseball coach at Oak Hill, Mr. Perkins has won one state title and was state runner-up once in the four trips to the state tournament his teams have made.

He has been named the Class B State Coach of the Year three times and the Class B District Coach of the Year eight times. He has won well over 300 games in his stellar career.

He serves as a deacon at Trinity Baptist Church in Pineville.

Mr. Perkins is married to the former Bobbie Hall, and they have two children, Kayla and Micah.

The Wildcat Athletic Association inducted Denton "Dobie" Perkins into the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame on October 17, 2003.
