Clayton Bullard lettered in football, basketball, and track at Hamilton High School under the direction of Coach Ted Jones. Coach Jones was a Louisiana College alumnus and encouraged Bullard to attend Louisiana College himself.

While at LC, Bullard played basketball for two years, football for four years, and ran track for four years. He lettered in football three of those years and in track all four years. He was a member of Louisiana College’s prestigious “L” Club for outstanding athletes. He was an All-Gulf States Conference tackle during his senior year.

After college, Bullard coached several outstanding basketball teams at Pineville High School and Lafargue High School in the late 1950s and 1960s. He was appointed principal at Lafargue High School in 1971 and served there until his retirement in 1988.

Bullard met and married Helen R. Fortenberry in 1955. The two have four daughters.

The Wildcat Athletic Association inducted Clayton Bullard into the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame on October 15, 2004.
