A 1992 Louisiana College graduate, Fred Williams was a stand-out basketball player for Coach Gene Rushing's Wildcats from 1988 until 1992.

He finished his college career with 1,579 points (16.3 average), playing in 97 games. Had foot and ankle injuries not sidelined him for most of his senior season, he was on track to become the College's first 2,000 point scorer.

In Mr. Williams' sophomore season, he scored 558 points (19.2 average) as he led the Wildcats to their second appearance in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Tournament.

He was named the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 1991 and was named to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference First Team in 1990 and 1991. He ranks 10th all-time on LC's scoring list and 16th on the rebounding list.

While Mr. Williams currently works in the mortgage industry, he began his career in finance and banking. He has supported his community through participation in charity basketball tournaments, voting initiatives, and the Boys and Girls Club of Houston.

He is married to his college sweetheart, the former Kathy Hebert, a 1994 LC graduate. They have two daughters, Alia Nicole and Erika Joy.

The Wildcat Athletic Association inducted Fred Williams into the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame on October 17, 2003.
