A starter all four years of his college career, Miller became not only one of the best offensive linemen in the American Southwest Conference, but in all of NCAA Division III.

He made his first team All-ASC at tackle in his junior and senior years, 2002 and 2003. In 2003, Miller was named ASC Lineman of the Year and to first team All-America in Division III. His size, upper body strength and quickness made him a prospect for football at the professional level.

In 2004, Miller signed as an undrafted free agent with the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs and remained with the team for the duration of that season. He also had stints with the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL and New Orleans Voodoo of the Arena Football League. He was also a starter for the NFL Europe's Amsterdam Admirals, playing on the 2005 team that won the World Bowl.
