There have been bigger and faster running backs, and there have been a few that put together better individual game and season statistics, but there have been few that had a rushing career at Louisiana College that topped Frank Mobley's.

When Mobley finished his career, he was the school's all-time leading rusher.  That record stood until recently when LC reinstituted football. Mobley averaged just under six yards per carry in a remarkable career. The durable scatback rushed for 2,260 yards on 380 attempts from 1953-1956.

Mobley came to LC from Ouachita High School, where he was one of the state's elite ground gainers his senior season.

As an LC freshman, Mobley rushed for 634 yards and added another 184 yards passing and receiving. He was honorable mention All-Gulf States Conference as a rookie. He also was runner-up in the 220 yard dash at the GSC track meet.

The next season, Mobley racked up the third highest total offense figure in the conference and was a second-team All-GSC selection.

He set a GSC record as a junior with 357 yards on 14 kick-off returns (25.5 yards average) and rushed for 485 yards, fourth best in the league. He also was fourth in scoring with 41 points and was among the conference's leading punters. He earned second-team All-GSC honors in 1955.

Mobley's highest rushing total, 717 yards, came as a senior. His six yard average per carry was one of the best in the country, and he produced 65 points on nine touchdowns and 11 PATs.
