Frank Schneider is a native of Jonesville, La., where he played at Block High School. After his prep career at BHS, which included a 1966 Louisiana State Championship, Schneider continued his career and education at Louisiana College.

During his playing career (1967-1971) the Louisiana College Wildcats never had a losing record. They qualified for the NAIA national tournament in 1971 after winning a school record number of games in a season.

After graduation from Louisiana College, Schneider moved into the field of education and coaching. This was where Schneider’s greatest mark would be made. His first collegiate coaching stint was at his alma mater. While coaching LC’s women’s basketball team from 1979-1985, the Lady Wildcats compiled three 20-win seasons, advanced to the AIAW final four once, and advanced to the AIAW quarterfinals three times. During his last season in 1984-1985, the Lady Wildcats won 27 games, which was then a school record, and beat the number one ranked team in the nation, Carson-Newman.

After the 1984-85 season, Schneider became the head women’s basketball coach at Southeastern Louisiana and coached there for the next 17 years. During his tenure, the Lady Lions won 222 games, making him the winningest coach in SLU women’s basketball history. He took his SLU teams to post-season play in three different conferences and after his final year at SLU, he finished as one of only 61 NCAA Division I coaches with 300 total collegiate wins.

During his collegiate coaching career, Schneider coached nine All-Americans, 11 All-Louisiana players, and one Conference Player of the Year.

After leaving SLU, Schneider headed for the WNBA, coaching as an assistant for the Detroit Shock. He also served as a consultant for the first WNBA World Championship team, the Houston Comets.

Schneider is married to the former Carol Pettit and they are the parents of three children: Amy, Ashley, and Wes. They also have two grandchildren.
