Hall of Fame
During the legendary 30-plus year career of Louisiana College men’s basketball coach Gene Rushing, he has seen only one player top the 2,000 point plateau: Ryan Vines.
The Wildcats all-time leading scorer and lone member of the prestigious 2,000 point club, Vines came to Louisiana College from Negreet High School in Sabine Parish. His sophomore season in 2000-2001 at LC will forever go down as one of the best in program history, as he averaged 22.7 points per game and set a new school record for most 3-pointers made with 129. Along the way, he was named an NCCAA 1st Team All-American, NCCAA 1st Team All-Central Region, NCCAA National Tournament All-Tournament Team, 1st Team All-ASC East, as well as being named the ASC East Player of the Year.
The two years that followed did nothing but supplant his legacy as an all-time LC great, as he followed his outstanding sophomore campaign by averaging 21.9 points per game to go along with 4.3 rebounds per game as a junior and 18.5 points per game and 4.8 rebounds per game as a senior. All told, Vines finished his career with a 19.5 points per game scoring average.
Vines took his talents to coaching upon leaving LC, as he currently holds the position of head basketball coach at Many High School.
