Holding eight letters in three sports, Billy Moses is certainly the renaissance man of Louisiana College athletics

Moses attended Louisiana College from 1947-51 after serving in the United States Navy in South Pacific Operations from 1944-46.

While at LC, he lettered three years in football, one year in baseball, and four years in basketball. Moses was basketball team captain from 1949-51 and also served as squadman for the track team in 1949-50. He was president of the "L" Club in 1950.

He was the team's leading scorer in the '49-50 season with 15.2 average points per game and again in the '50-51 season with 17.4 average points per game. Moses was named Honorable Mention All Gulf States Conference in 1950-51.

After leaving Louisiana College, Moses began his career with the Calcasieu school system. He retired in 1987 after spending five years as Superintendent of Schools in Calcasieu Parish.

During that time, Moses received the Basketball Coach of the Year award three times and led his team to the state semi-finals in basketball three times. In 1989, he was inducted into the LHSAA Hall of Fame.

Active in his community, Moses is a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur, the Masonic Lodge, the Executive Committee of the LHSAA, and the Louisiana Association of Principals. Moses is married to the former Joyce Gardner (LC 1950-51). The two have three children and five grandchildren.

The Wildcat Athletic Association proudly inducted Billy J. Moses into the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame on February 21, 1997.
