Marvin Gene Holland began his athletic career at Clinton High School where he was a ‘man for all seasons,’ playing football, track, and basketball.

At Louisiana College, he played defensive end, tight end, and right guard for the Wildcat football team. He was president of the “L” Club for three years and was team captain in 1965. He lettered in football all four years.

After graduation, he began coaching high school football and has coached at schools across the state. He is currently the head football coach, athletic director, and assistant principal at the Silliman Institute in Clinton.

Throughout his 35 coaching seasons, he has also coached track and basketball. His teams have made countless play-off appearances, and the teams at Silliman have won state championships in both track and football.

His football teams - during the last 25 years - have won 73 percent of their games played, and only two seasons of his 35 have showed a winning rate of less than 50 percent.

He and his wife, the former Ann Brady, have three children - Jennifer, Christopher, and Amy - and two grandsons.

The Wildcat Athletic Association inducted Marvin Gene Holland into the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame on October 19, 2001.
