More than a decade after graduating from Louisiana College, Lowell Lucas still holds one of the top 10 scoring records in the Wildcats’ history.

Eighth on the all-time scoring list, Lucas scored 1,635 points during his four years at Louisiana College, averaging 15.2 points per game. He is also eighth on the all-time rebounding list.

Lucas helped lead the Wildcats to their best four-year stretch in the history of LC men’s basketball. His teams averaged 20 wins per season and had a combined 80-39 mark during those years.

His sophomore season was his best. That year, he was ninth in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference in scoring (16.9 points per game) and fifth in field goal percentage (58.1 percent). That season, he was named All-GCAC and helped lead LC to a district championship and the NAIA National Tournament.

The following season, he averaged 16.5 points per game.

Lucas is now the minister of education at First Baptist Church in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The Wildcat Athletic Association inducted Lowell Lucas into the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame on October 29, 2005.
