The Weathersby name is very familiar in Louisiana College circles. As an honor student, Hal Weathersby was involved in all aspects of student life at Louisiana College. He was a member of the French Club, Pi Kappa Delta National Debating and Oratorical Fraternity, and was on the Pineknot staff for three years.

Perhaps Weathersby's greatest interest at LC, however, was Wildcat athletics. He was captain and quarterback of the Wildcat football squad in the 1932 season. Although small, he was a good ball carrier, a deadly tackler, and an excellent field general. He also lettered in track and tennis and was president of the Orange "L" Club. He was an alternate-captain of the track team and is listed in the 1933 Pineknot as record holder in the Freshman SIAA High Jump.

Weathersby earned a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry and biology in 1933. In 1939 he received his master of science degree from LSU and returned to Louisiana College as an assistant coach and biology teacher until 1950. He then entered Tulane Medical School and earned his PhD. in 1952. He joined Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where he taught anatomy for twenty-eight years before retiring in 1981.

As a professional educator, Dr. Weathersby was notably popular among his students. He has been recognized through yearbook dedications on many occasions and has been selected Outstanding Teacher sixteen times. In 1975 he was selected as Outstanding Educator of America by Fuller and Dees.

Weathersby served as president of the Texas State Anatomical Board from 1971 to 1975 and holds membership in many anatomical organizations and societies. He has also written for a number of medical and scientific journals. In 1989 he was honored as a Distinguised Alumnus by the LC Alumni Association.

The Wildcat Athletic Association proudly inducted Dr. Hal T. Weathersby as a charter member of the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame on February 22, 1992.
