A four letter star at Louisiana College, Drexel Robinson's playing ability improved each year he was on the Wildcat team and culminated with him leading them to the N.A.I.A. playoffs his senior year.
Robinson was an intense and talented athlete who had received numerous honors for basketball, track, and baseball at Denham Springs High. He attended Louisiana College on a basketball scholarship from 1973 until 1977.
During his stay at Louisiana College, Robinson and the Wildcats played against numerous N.C.A.A. Division I opponents. He led the Cats to a respectable 61-42 record during his tenure and finished with career statistics that included 45 percent field goal shooting and 76 percent free throw shooting. He averaged 12.5 points per game.
Robinson's personality was responsible for making practice sessions enjoyable because of his own sincere enjoyment. A coach once said that Robinson caused his fellow players and coaches alike to make practice fun.
He currently serves as Deputy Sheriff with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office. He was named Man of the Year from Men of Vision for Excellence in 1989. Last year, he received the Outstanding Police Officer Award from Denham Springs - West Livingston Kiwanis Club and a Lifetime Membership to Louisiana Lions League for crippled children.
Robinson is married to Shirley Thomas and has two children. He attends the Church of God in Denham Springs and is serving as Youth Minister.
The Wilcat Athletic Association proudly inducted Drexel Robinson, Sr. into the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame on February 17, 1995.
