10/7/2018 4:19:00 PM

The 2018 edition of the Louisiana College cross country teams have continued to excel and improve performances under first-year head coach LaTonya Loche. Those results continued their upward trend over the weekend as both the men and women competed against fellow Division III opponents at the East Texas Baptist Tiger Invitational. Nathan Anderson once again led the charge for the Wildcat men finishing 35th overall with a time of 31:21.7, while Maycee Lachney led the women with a top-20 finish and a time of 27:08.0.

It was the women's team that made the biggest splash on the weekend behind the effort of Maycee Lachney, taking sixth overall as a team among the 10 competing schools. Lachney earned the Wildcats' only top-20 finish but Alyssa Hollier (27:13.3) came in just behind at 22nd overall and Haleigh Lachney (27:33.9) just a few second finished 25th. MySherie Johnson (29:28.1) and Essence Alexander (30:24.8) rounded out the top five for LC on the day.

Nathan Anderson was once again the pace setter for the Wildcat men in the meet with his 31:21.7 effort. Johnathan Franklin (35:15.6) was the only other Wildcat to finish the course in under 40 minutes on the day as the men finished in 10th overall as a team on the day.

The Wildcats will run in their final regular season meet week at the Bill Libby Invitational hosted by McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. The American Southwest Conference meet will take place two weeks later as the team wraps up the 2018 season.
