The Louisiana College men's and women's cross country teams ran for the second time in as many weeks in an event hosted by the University of Texas at Tyler. This weekend they competed in the Braveheart Invitaional and across the board the improvements in individual and team times was seen for the Wildcat runners. Their next event is scheduled for early October when they head back to east Texas to run in an eight kilometer meet hosted by East Texas Baptist University.
For the third meet in a row, freshman
Nathan Anderson led the Wildcats team. He finished with a time of 17:36.61 placing him 33rd overall with a 5:40 second per mile average on the day. The time was his best of the season at that distance. Fellow freshmen
Christian Maldonado and
Andrew Edmonds also improved their times in this weekend's meet finishing with times of 19:23.7 and 19:51.8 respectively.
Like Anderson leading the way for the Wildcat men, it was once again
Haleigh Lachney that had the fastest finish for the Wildcat women. She came in with a time of 22:17.5, just four seconds off the mark she set last weekend at LeTourneau.
MySherie Johnson once again improved on her time, shaving nearly two minutes off her previous best and finishing second for the Wildcats with a time of 23:26.4.
Maycee Lachney came in just a few seconds after Johnson at 23:29.9.
Both Wildcat teams will continue their endurance and speed training over the next few weeks as they prepare for an eight kilometer run at the beginning of October in Marshall, Texas.
