Cross Country at Bill Libby Invitational

The Louisiana College men's and women's cross country teams closed out their regular season schedule over the weekend by participating in the Bill Libby Invitational hosted by McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. It was the Wildcat women that had their best team finish of the season with the Lachney twins finished 11th and 12th overall in the 6-kilometer race. For the men, Nathan Anderson earned a top-25 spot with his time of 34:28.6.

Overall for the Wildcats the times were slower on the day due to heavy rainfall turning the course into varying degrees of mud pits throughout the distance. Despite the conditions the LC women had their best showing with a fifth place finish among the eight teams involved. Haleigh Lachney and twin sister Maycee Lachney had the best times of the women, on their birthday, with a 28:37.8 and 28:38.3 mark in the race. Alyssa Hollier snuck into the top-20 as well with a time of 30:24.6, giving the Wildcats three runners in the top-20 of competitors for the first time this season. The Wildcats were one of three team with three or more runners earning top-20 finishes in the race, along with McMurry and UT-Dallas.

Nathan Anderson kept his pace well for the Wildcat men, taking the 23rd overall spot at the end of the day with a time of 34:28.6, with a 4:19 per kilometer average on the day. The rest of the men struggled with the conditions and fell off the pace somewhat with Adam Hair ending at 39:14.6, the only other Wildcats to finish the race in under 40 minutes.

The team will have one week off form competition before the American Southwest Conference Championship meet the weekend of October 27. The meet will take place on the same course that the Wildcats just competed on in Abilene, Texas and will again be hosted by McMurry University.
