Box Score

The Louisiana College Lady Wildcats picked up their first win since early December on Thursday night with a 66-53 victory over the visiting Sul Ross State Lobos.  The Wildcats travel to Marshall, TX Saturday for a matchup with conference rival ETBU for their next contest.

Sul Ross came out of the gates fast scoring the first seven points of the game in less than a minute of play and eventually built and 12-2 advantage just four minutes into the game. The Wildcats would settle into the game at that point and work their way back within striking distance by the end of the first quarter and only trail by two 16-14.

The Wildcats continued to play well in the second quarter, outscoring the Lobos 19-8 to take a comfortable 33-24 lead into the half. LC scored 11 of the final 13 points of the half capped off by seven straight from senior Kourtney McGhee.

The third quarter was controlled by the Wildcats as the bench play of Kourtney McGhee and Kortney Kling propelled LC with a combined 23 points between the two.  The closest the Lobos would get in the second half would come at the end of the third and early in the fourth at nine points, a pair of three's in the final 90 seconds of the third quarter made it a nine point game and a layup early in the fourth.

The Wildcats had 35 points from the bench compared to only 12 for the Lobos and LC out rebounded Sul Ross 51-38 and 22-8 on the offensive glass, with no Lady Wildcat having more than seven total rebounds in the game.

McGhee led the scoring for the Wildcat with 16 points, all off the bench, followed by freshmen Kristen Breaux and Karlee Teddlie who had 11 and 10 points respectively. The Wildcats take on ETBU Saturday in their next contest before returning home to take on Concordia next Tuesday.  The location of the game is still to be determined pending the completion of the floor at H.O. West.
