After a couple of plane rides and time spent checking out the snow in Walla Walla, Washington, the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats played their first game in the K.E. Raney Memorial Classic against the host Whitman College. The #25 ranked Blues used a quick start and tremendous inside play to take the 89-59 win over the Wildcats. LC will finish the classic on Saturday evening with a matchup against Whitworth who defeated Colorado College in their first game 65-52.

Whitman started the game strong in the first quarter with two buckets in the first 35 seconds of the game before the Wildcats would get on the board on a jumper by Kristen Breaux.  After Breaux's basket, however, Whitman began to pull away and pull away quickly.  The Blues went on a 23-7 run over the next seven and a half minutes of the first quarter to take a commanding 27-9 lead over the Wildcats.  LC would score the final five points of the quarter but still found themselves behind by 13 at the end of the first. The closest the Lady Wildcats would get in the second quarter was an 11 point deficit on a few different occasions but were never able to get back within single digits of the home team.

Whitman was able to score 46 of their 89 total points in the paint compared to just 24 from the Wildcats.  The Blues also converted on 54.5% of their shot from the field and held a 29-19 advantage over LC on the defensive glass. The Wildcats had two players score in double figures, Rometta Lombard put in 12 and Brooke Jones finished with 10 points for the Wildcats.  The Lady Wildcats will take on Whitworth Saturday evening at 6pm CST.
