Danisha Allison's life, the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats cruised to an 89-38 win over the Sul Ross Lady Lobos on Saturday afternoon in the H.O. West Fieldhouse.
For the senior center from Oakdale, Louisiana, Saturday was not only one of her finest individual outings of her outstanding career as well as her final American Southwest Conference game at home, it was also the day that she said "Yes" to her boyfriend Shaq Lewis, as the former LC defensive back proposed to Allison on the floor in the H.O. West Fieldhouse in front of her friends, family, and teammates.
While Allison led the Lady Cats with 12 points, 16 rebounds, and five blocked shots on the afternoon, it did not overshadow a complete team effort that saw the LC bench score 43 points as head coach
Patrece Spivey's team dominated on the glass as well, outrebounding Sul Ross 67-43 on the afternoon.
The game was never in question for LC, as they led 21-6 by the second media timeout and stretched that lead all the way out to thirty points at halftime when they took a 50-20 lead into the locker room.
The second half would be much of the same, as the Lady Cats started the second half out on a 20-6 run over the first 10 minutes and eventually take the game by a final score of 89-38.
Seniors
Skylar Chenevert (10 points, five rebounds) and
Neka Jones (18 points) both finished in double figures while fellow senior
Khloe Mims came off the bench to have one of the best games of her career, knocking two of her three shots from beyond the arc to finish with six points and six rebounds.
Louisiana College (16-5 overall, 13-5 in ASC play) remain firm in third place in the ASC standings with the win over the Lady Lobos. They will travel to Clarksville, Arkansas next Thursday to take on Ozarks before playing their final ASC game of the season next Saturday against #10 Texas-Tyler, who clinched the ASC regular season title and home court advantage in the ASC Tournament on Saturday with a narrow 72-71 win over Concordia.
