The Louisiana College Lady Wildcats used a tremendous defensive performance late in their game against Sul Ross on Saturday to complete a come-from-behind 55-52 win over the Lobos at the Gallego Center in Alpine, Texas to collect their first win of the season.
 
The Lady Cats, who trailed 46-42 entering the fourth quarter, shut down Sul Ross in the final period, as they allowed just six points in the fourth quarter to rally their way to the win.
 
Taylor Payne gave LC their first lead of the second half at the 7:19 mark of the fourth quarter that put LC ahead 47-46.
 
Sul Ross would then tie the game up at 52-52 with just over two minutes left, but layup by Kourtney McGhee with 45 seconds left in regulation put the Lady Cats ahead for good, as they were able to close out the 55-52 win.
 
LC forced 21 Lobo turnovers, which included a team-leading 4 steals from freshman standout Rydeja McQuarn, who scored 12 points on the afternoon.
 
McGhee led LC in scoring with a career-high 15 points on 5-for-11 shooting.
 
Sophomore center Brooke Jones continued to show improvement in her post game, as she finished with 9 points and 6 rebounds.
 
LC (1-6 overall, 1-3 in ASC play) will have a break for Christmas before playing in the Berry College Classic beginning on December 29^th in Mount Berry, Georgia.
