Box Score Box ScoreUpdated Season StatsUpdated ASC StandingsThe Louisiana College women's basketball team, who have caught fire over the past two weeks, recorded their fourth straight win on Thursday night in the H.O. West Fieldhouse, as they took down Concordia 70-67 in front of their home crowd.
The Lady Cats, who uncharacteristically turned the ball over 17 times, were able to keep Concordia down the entire second half by now allowing the Tornados to ever catch a rhythm from the outside, as they harassed Concordia's shooters all night on the perimeter and allowed them to shoot just 23.5% (4-17) from behind the arc.
LC was also very efficient in their offense, as they collected 17 assists on their 27 made field goals.
The Tornados looked to take some momentum into the locker room just before halftime, as they took their first lead of the game with just over two minutes left in the first half on a layup by Isis Johnson.
The Lady Cats would answer immediately, however, with back-to-back baskets from
Kaci Willis and
LaToya Evans to regain the lead at 35-32 with 1:38 left until the half before the two teams would go into the half deadlocked at 36-36.
LC would open the second half on fire, as they jumped out to a 52-42 lead at the 12:27 mark on a pair of free throws from
Danisha Allison.
Concordia would cut that lead all the way down to two when Nadine Fadelle hit a jumper at the 9:14 mark to make the score 52-50 and cap an 8-0 run by the visitors.
LC would stretch the lead all the way back out to double digits when Willis finished off a fast break with a layup to put the Lady Cats up 67-57 with under four minutes left, and the Lady cats were able to stave off a late attack by Concordia to take the big 70-67 win in conference play.
Willis led LC with 14 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists while fellow seniorÂ
Danisha Allison recorded 13 points, eight rebounds, and five blocks.Â
The Lady Wildcats (12-4 overall, 9-4 in ASC) maintain their position in the ASC standings, as they continue to sit in third place behind Texas-Tyler and Texas-Dallas. They will take on Mary Hardin-Baylor (10-8, 6-7) on Saturday in the final game of their current three-game homestand.Â
