Another nail-biting finish highlighted Louisiana College's 75-73 win over Southwestern University on Sunday afternoon, as the Lady Wildcats beat the host Pirates behind a big day from LC senior duo Kaci Willis and Neka Jones on the final day of the 2014 Southwestern Thanksgiving Classic in Georgetown, TX.

Willis, a forward, finished with a team-high 20 points, nine rebounds, and three steals while Jones, the veteran LC guard, poured in 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Lady Cats.

The Lady Wildcats had an opportunity to put the game out of reach for the Pirates in the final minutes, as they held a 75-71 lead with 37 seconds left in regulation after a pair of Karli West made free throws.

But after West came up with a steal just six seconds later, the sophomore missed the front end of a 1-and-1 opportunity at the foul line.

That led to Southwestern having three opportunities to make it a one possession game before Jordan Owens finally hit a layup with 10 seconds remaining to cut the lead to 75-73.

Willis would then miss the front end of another 1-and-1 opportunity from the charity stripe for LC after a foul by Madison Eschle.

Louisiana College would then hold a collective sigh of relief as Owens last second prayer from behind the three-point line was off target, and the Lady Wildcats were able to escape with the win and remain unbeaten on the year.

Despite shooting just 37.7% (29-77) from the field and 47.6% (10-21) from the free throw line, LC's perimeter defense was able to shut down the Southwestern outside shooting attack, as the Pirates made just three of their 24 shots (12.5%) from behind the three-point line.

West was the other Lady Wildcat to reach double figures in scoring, as she notched 10 points off the bench to give the LC reserves a boost.

Louisiana College sits at 4-0 on the young season with their pair of wins in the Thanksgiving Classic and will prepare for their second American Southwest Conference matchup of the season on Thursday against LeTourneau at 5:30 p.m. in Longview, TX.
