Box Score Shreveport, La. - The Patrece Carter-Spivey era at Louisiana College got started with a bang, as the Lady Wildcats were dominant in a 96-62 win over the Centenary Ladies on the road Monday night in Shreveport, La.

The Lady Wildcats struggled a bit to find their shooting touch early on despite holding a 10-5 lead after the first media timeout in the first half.

But sophomore sharp shooter Baylie Butler came off the LC bench to give the Lady Cats the spark they needed, as she nailed three shots from beyond the arc to lead a 27-11 run from the 14:55 mark to the 8:33 mark of the first half to open up a 37-16 lead.

Carter-Spivey's suffocating full court press defense took over from there, and an Angela Ortiz fastbreak layup off a Neka Jones assist after a Karylon Thornton steal highlighted more impressive play from the LC bench in the first 20 minutes.

LC would take their biggest lead of the first 20 minutes on their last basket of the half, as Karli West found freshman center Brooke Jones under the basket with less than a minute remaining to stretch the Lady Cat lead to 30 at half, 55-25.

Butler (12 points) and West (9 points, 3 rebounds), both sophomores, led LC offensively in the first half while providing a providing some much needed fire power off the bench as they combined for four three-pointers.

Senior point guard Keana Frank was also rock solid in the first half, as she was a perfect 3-for-3 from the field to go along with six assists and four steals.

The Ladies would close the gap to 25 early in the second half, as a Briana Edwards layup  at the 17:21 mark in the paint pushed Centenary made the score 59-34.

But a 14-3 run by the Lady Cats over the next six minutes put LC back up by 36 at 73-37 with just under 12 minutes left in the half.

Butler and senior guard Karylon Thornton would then hit back-to-back three-pointers to stave off any attempt by Centenary to regain the momentum as the Lady cats took an 80-42 lead with 9:19 remaining, which proved to be their largest lead of the contest.

The Lady Wildcats' bench was dominant as they outscored Centenary's subs 58 to 19.

Jones finished 15 points, three rebounds, and four assists while Butler was LC's top scorer off the bench with 15 points on 4-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc.

Frank was LC's other double figure scorer with 12 points, six assists, and four steals.

Centenary's Linda Gomez-Gill was the game's leading scorer with 18 points.
