LC's 45-game home court winning streak snapped in loss to ETBU

Box Score

January 29, 2009. Before Thursday's night 64-60 overtime loss to East Texas Baptist, that stood as the last time that the Louisiana College Lady Wildcats lost a regular season home game in the H.O. West Fieldhouse.

Fittingly enough that loss, which came to UT-Dallas, had an eerily similar final score of 64-62.

A quick look at the final box score shows where Lady Wildcats lost the game, as they had one of the most disappointing shooting nights in Jason Tinsley's tenure at LC, going 23-92 (25%) from the field and 9-52 (17.3%) from beyond the three-point line.

LC was also uncharacteristically unable to finish around the rim, as they grabbed twice as many offensive rebounds (34) as ETBU (17), but only had 14 second chance points compared to 20 for the Tigers.

The Lady Wildcats were able to overcome an eight point halftime deficit (31-23), and a seven point deficit (46-39) with 6:55 remaining to force overtime. LC's first lead came with 4:15 left in the second half, as a Neka Jones three-pointer gave them a 47-46 advantage.

A Natosha Gottlieb layup on a fast break gave LC a 51-50 lead with under a minute left, but Brandice Latin was able to tie it up and force overtime with a free-throw after being fouled by Shaina Howard with 30 seconds left in regulation.

Overtime belonged to the Tigers as Danisha Allison's jumper one minute into the extra period tied the game 53 and the Lady Wildcats were unable to get any closer than that the rest of the way.

Eight of the Tigers final 11 points in overtime came at the foul line, which is where they ultimately put the game away to pull off the upset.

Natosha Gottlieb was the game's high scorer with 23 points and 10 reboounds. Neka Jones joined her in double figures with 12, all on three-pointers.

LC falls to 20-3 on the year, 15-2 in the ASC. Despite the loss, they will still be the #1 seed in the ASC Tournament after clinching the ASC East Division title last week. They will host UT-Tyler on Saturday at 1 p.m., which will serve as senior day for both the men's and women's teams.
