Box Score
PINEVILLE, La. - The Louisiana College Lady Wildcats overcame a horrific first half of shooting to defeat McMurry 81-72 Saturday afternoon.

LC shot just 8-of-44 in the first half (18.2 percent) including just 4-of-26 from 3-point territory (15.4 percent).

Fortunately for LC, their defense kept them in the game as they forced the War Hawks into 20 first-half turnovers and 40 for the game.  LC scored 34 of its points off turnovers to just 20 for McMurry.

The Wildcats trailed 32-26 at halftime but outscored McMurry 55-40 in the second half to pull away for the win.  LC improves to 10-2 overall, 8-1 in the American Southwest Conference. The War Hawks dropped to 8-4, 6-2 in the ASC.

Perhaps no player better illustrated LC's shooting woes in the opening half than senior guard Roslyn Wilmer.  Wilmer missed all eight of her shots in the first half but bounced back to go 7-for-12 in the second half on her way to a game-high 21 points.  Wilmer also contributed nine rebounds and four steals.

It was Wilmer's 3-point basket with 4:28 left in the game that put LC up 67-63 just moments after another basket had given the Lady Cats the lead for good.

Joining Wilmer in double figures for LC were junior forward Natosha Gottlieb with 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals and sophomore forward Melody Criswell who had 10 points, six rebounds and four steals.

McMurry was led by junior guard Rikeita Thomas with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists. Sophomore forward Keshia Collins added 15 points and nine rebounds and senior center Celeste Belizario who spent much of the second half in foul trouble finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.

McMurry dominated LC on the glass with a 64-48 rebounding advantage. But, the War Hawks found little success beyond 3-point line as they finished the game just 1-for-13 (7.7 percent) and 26-for-71 (36.6 percent) overall.

The Wildcats return to action Thursday, Jan. 12 when they play at East Texas Baptist at 5: 30 p.m.
