Box Score
ABILENE, Texas - The best start in school history and Louisiana College's flawless streak to begin the 2010-11 season ended Saturday afternoon in Texas with the Lady Wildcats falling 65-60 in overtime to McMurry, the team LC defeated to win the American Southwest Conference Tournament (also in overtime) a year ago.

The Lady  Cats (11-1, 7-1 ASC), who entered the contest ranked No. 19 in the latest D3Hoops.com poll and No. 22 in the USA Today ESPN poll, led 24-23 at half but were outscored 30-29 in the second half and 12-7 in overtime.

LC, which entered the game averaging almost 17 steals per game, struggled to force turnovers and picked up just 11 steals from McMurry (7-5, 4-3 ASC).

Worse for the Lady Cats, who had been shooting 44 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range on the season, the team shot just 30.7 percent from the field and 18.2 percent from three-point range.

McMurry wasn't much better, 32.7 percent on field goals and 25 percent on three-pointers, but the home team out-rebounded LC 57-43 (including pulling down 25 offensive rebounds) and produced 17 steals en route to the win.

It was the lowest point total of the season for LC, which had just three players reach double figure scoring (the norm has been five per game).

Tillisha Givens led the way with 13 points while Roslyn Wilmer and Natosha Gottlieb put up 10 apiece. Gottlieb also added 11 rebounds.

McMurry was led by Rikeita Thomas (20 points), Anna Berthel (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Jordan Stansell (10 points, 11 rebounds).

Saturday's visit to McMurry was the last in a two-game conference road trip for the Lady Cats, who return home Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. for their ASC East Division opener, a game in which LC will play host to rival Mississippi College.
