PINEVILLE, La. – The Lady Cats got off to a sluggish start but were able to do enough in the second half to secure a 69-57 win over Ozarks in American Southwest Conference play.
Louisiana College (13-1, 8-1 ASC), ranked No. 20 in the latest D3Hoops.com poll, led 29-26 at the half and outscored the Eagles 40-31 in the second session to capture the win, despite shooting just 28 percent from the field.
All-American Tillisha Givens was among five Lady Cats to reach double figures in the contest, scoring 13 points to go along with 19 rebounds.
She was one of two LC women to post a double-double, with Natosha Gottlieb putting up 16 points and 10 rebounds in the game.
Three other Lady Cats – Kayla Guidry (10), Briana Lewis (10) and Roslyn Wilmer (13) – also reached double figures on the night.
Ozarks, which shot 33.9 percent from the field, had one player achieve a double in the form of Sabrina Goddard, who had 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Lacey Phillips (16 points) was the only other Eagle in double figures.
Next up for LC is a home showdown with ASC East division foe Texas Dallas at home this Saturday at 1 p.m.
