Box Score
PINEVILLE – The Louisiana College women maintained their control of first place in the American Southwest Conference East Division with authority here Saturday, setting a new school record for fewest points allowed in a 72-26 win over LeTourneau.
LC forced LeTourneau into 35 turnovers on the night.
It had been since 1976 since the Lady Cats' defense was last that stingy. In that year, on Nov. 19, LC's women pounded Dallas Baptist 109-30 to set what would become a 34-year-old record.
On Saturday, the Lady Cats wasted no time in establishing their dominance, rolling to a 49-11 halftime lead before cruising to the win in the second session.
And, although the normal trio of Tillisha Givens, Voneshia Williams and Christy Pantallion led the charge for LC (19-2, 15-2 ASC) with Givens scoring 14 points and Williams and Pantallion chipping in 10 points apiece, it was the Lady Cats' bench that played the lion's share of the minutes.
Roslyn Wilmer (seven points), Janet Butler (six points), Natosha Gottlieb (five points ) and Myshnae Swan (five points) all came off the bench to provide quality performances for Louisiana College.
LeTourneau (4-19, 4-14 ASC) had just one player to reach double figures, Laura Hahn with 10 points.
The Lady Cats return to action Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. with their home finale, a Senior Night meeting with rival Mississippi College.
