WACO, Texas – The Louisiana Christian softball team saw four of its members honored in the Red River Athletic Conference's postseason awards, which were announced on Wednesday by the conference office.
Leading the way was
Olivia Falcon, who was named to the first team.
Isabella Battaglia and
Mariel Medrano were both named to the second team.
Madelyn Bourgoyne was named as an honorable mention while
Maci Baldwin was named the team's representative on the Champions of Character Team.
Falcon, a junior right-handed pitcher from St. Amant, La., earned her spot on the All-RRAC First Team after posting a 10-8 record with a save on the season with a 2.37 ERA in 109.1 innings pitched this season. 12 times this season, she's started a game and was still in the circle when the final out was recorded, three of which were shutouts. Opposing batters had a .234 batting average against her and she was named the RRAC's Pitcher of the Week on April 20.
Battaglia, a sophomore third baseman from Montgomery, Texas, took her spot on the second team with a .322 batting average on the year, hitting seven doubles and a home run throughout the season. While at the hot corner for most of the season, Battaglia was credited with 32 putouts and 64 assists while committing five errors for a .950 fielding percentage on the year.
Medrano, a junior outfielder from Cypress, Texas, was awarded a spot on the second team thanks to a .311 batting average while hitting lead-off throughout the year. She had three doubles and one triple but was always a threat to take off when on the bases, finishing the season with 36 stolen bases in 37 attempts. As the primary center fielder, she had 61 putouts and four assists and had a .956 fielding percentage.
Bourgoyne, a senior infielder from Walker, La., was a .296 hitter on the year with nine doubles and a home run. She knocked in 15 runs and scored 20 times herself throughout the year. She was also successful in all five of her attempts at stealing a base. Playing out of position in right field for most of the season, Bourgoyne had 64 putouts with four outfield assists, including a double play. She finished the season with a .944 fielding percentage.
Baldwin, a graduate student infielder from Moss Bluff, La., was named the team's representative on the RRAC's Champions of Character team as the player who best exemplifies the NAIA's Champions of Character five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
The Wildcats (22-23) enter the 2026 RRAC Softball Championship Tournament as its seven-seed and will open the tournament against the two-seed, #11 Our Lady of the Lake. First pitch against the #11 Saints (34-9) is set for 11 a.m. at Champions Sportsplex in Lecompte. LCU will come back as soon as that game is complete and will take on either the three-seed, Texas A&M-Texarkana, or the 6-seed, Xavier, depending on each game's result, at 1 p.m., also at Champions Sportsplex.
