WACO, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University softball team picked up its first Red River Athletic Conference weekly honor as
Olivia Falcon picked up the conference's Pitcher of the Week award, the conference office announced on Monday.
Falcon, a junior right-handed pitcher from St. Amant, La., started the weekend with a complete game win, giving up just four hits and one unearned run with four walks while striking out three in LCU's 6-1 win in game one of Friday's doubleheader against the Jaguars.
She came on in a relief role in Saturday's game against A&M-Victoria, throwing 4.2 innings from the circle and allowed four hits and no runs was two walks and a strikeout to give the Wildcats a chance, though LCU would eventually lose the game 3-2.
In her first season with the Wildcats, this is Falcon's first RRAC Pitcher of the Week award. It's also the first RRAC weekly award won by a Wildcat this season.
Falcon and the rest of the Wildcats (22-20, 12-12 RRAC) head across the Red River for the final series of the regular season to take on #16 LSU Alexandria. First pitch of the series opener against the #16 Generals (28-14, 20-4 RRAC) is set for 6 p.m. Friday at Generals Field.
