WACO, Texas – The #19 Louisiana Christian University baseball team took home another Red River Athletic Conference weekly award as
Gavin Vordick was named the conference's Player of the Week on Monday.
Vordick, a redshirt sophomore outfielder from Houma, La., went 6-of-10 at the plate in the three-game series at LSU Alexandria with two home runs and two doubles, finishing the weekend with a 1.400 slugging percentage.
Both of Vordick's home runs on the weekend came in LCU's 11-6 win in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. He had a double in both of the other two games of the series and got two hits in all three games.
This is Vordick's first career RRAC Player of the Week award. Vordick's award is the second RRAC Player of the Week award won by a Wildcat, joining
Braden Trull was earned the award on Feb. 9, and fourth award overall with
Kade Linn being named the conference's Pitcher of the Week twice, Feb. 9 and last week.
Vordick and the rest of the #19 Wildcats (32-9, 17-7 RRAC) enter the final conference series of the season with a chance to finish anywhere from first to fifth with the top four teams hosting a first round series in the RRAC Tournament the next weekend. LCU will look to earn one of those four host spots as they welcome the defending national champion, #4 LSU Shreveport, to Pineville for the final weekend of play. The series opener against the #4 Pilots (34-9, 19-5 RRAC) is set for 6 p.m. on Friday at Billy Allgood Field.
