WACO, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University baseball program landed one position player and one pitcher each on the All-RRAC Second Team as Brady Hufman and
Jacob Bareswill were selected for the first time in their respective careers while
Caleb Duhon was the Wildcats' Champions of Character Team representative.
Â
Huffman, a redshirt freshman outfielder from right here in Pineville and a former PHS Rebel, concluded the regular season eighth in the league for sacrifice flies (3) while leading the team in longest on-base streak (17), OPS (.915), batting average (.356), and on-base percentage (.462).
Â
The first year racked up 37 hits, 25 runs scored, 24 RBIs, 15 walks, eight doubles, eight stolen bases, six hit-by-pitches, and hit his first career home run on April 12 at Huston-Tillotson.
Â
He was second on the team only to
Nick Lorio regarding multi-hit games with ten and produced the third-most contests with multiple ribbies at a half-dozen.
Â
Bareswill, a junior starting pitcher from Monroe, Louisiana, was among the top-20 in the nation for starts on the mound (13) as well as posting a top-45 ERA (2.89), slotting seventh and fifth in the RRAC, respectively.
Â
The former Centenary (Louisiana) transfer fronted the Cats in ERA, wins (6-1), and batting average against (.257) over 65.1 innings in which he struck out 50 batters.
Â
Possibly his best outing came in his final appearance of the regular season when he gutted out his second career complete game versus Texas College to give the bullpen a much-needed seven innings off after a huge workload in the win at McNeese, surviving 11 hits and three earned runs (four total) but allowed zero walks while punching out three Steers.Â
Â
Duhon, a senior outfielder from Lake Charles, Louisiana, was the go-to pinch-runner for the catchers when he wasn't in the lineup, going a perfect 4-for-4 in steal attempts and scoring 26 times, the second-most on the club.
Â
In the batter's box, he slashed .282 (AVG) / .440 (OBP) / .513 (SLG) with 16 RBIs, 11 hits, 10 walks, two home runs (including his first career grand slam), a triple, and a double in addition to laying down four sacrifice bunts.
Â
The quest for back-to-back tournament titles begins Thursday at 1 p.m. against third-seeded Texas A&M-Texarkana in the First Round of Bracket B, a rematch of the 2024 RRAC Championship Game.
