Game Three Of Series Takes More Than 3.5 Hours As LSUA Triumphs

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University baseball program played one of its longest games in recent memory as the nine-inning barn burner started at 2:30 p.m. and ended at approximately 6 p.m. without any delays with the Generals coming away on top at 13-9.

The Orange and Blue coaxed out a 2025-most seven walks in the finale and its fifth matchup in which they racked up double-digit hits.

LCU built up another sizable advantage (6-0 after two) only to watch the notoriously late-starting visitors go on a 8-0 scoring run spanning the third and fourth frames.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Logan Bertucci powered out his first career home run (two-RBI dinger) in at-bat #83 as a Cat, punctuating a wild sequence that saw him get hit-by-a-pitch, called back to the plate after deeming that he leaned into it, Coach Byrnes almost got ejected, and after all that madness, he took a 1-2 pitch deep into the misty night.

  • Hunter Gotreaux notched his second career multi-double affair during a massive 3-for-4 (.750) showing in which he also walked and scored.

  • Kade Linn was the ultimate feast or famine pitcher on Saturday, striking out six and walking four over 2.2 innings of scoreless relief while Seth Whitney produced one scoreless frame.

  • Braden Trull joined Gotreaux in the 3-of-4 club, registering one two-bagger and two singles as well as a free pass, driving in one RBI too.

  • Brady Huffman lofted a sacrifice fly in addition to a base on balls, Tyler McKenna doubled, walked, and scored, and Nick Lorio reached twice via a walk and a hit before eventually stealing second.

Next:

  • Another large test looms next weekend against the other Louisiana State University branch in Shreveport as the Diamond Cats battle the fourth-ranked Pilots starting Friday night at 6 p.m. for their first road series of the campaign.
