Baseball Survives Late Trouble To Take 3-of-4 From Midland

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University baseball program withstood a two-on, nobody out Warriors rally in the seventh by inducing a game-ending 6-3 double play to win the series (3-1) and return to the .500 mark for the season (8-8) with a 2-1 nail-biter.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Nick Lorio was 2-for-2 in plate appearances and 1-for-1 in official at-bats, singling as well as walking during his trips to the dish in addition to being one of two men to steal a base.

  • Colton Williams got the win (1-0), holding the visitors from Fremont, Nebraska to no hits and a singular run over three innings in spite of the fact that he struggled with his command.

  • The bullpen was lights out for the most part as Seth Whitney (1.0 IP), Owen Simoneaux (2.0 IP), and Cowan Alfonso (1.0 IP) shut out Midland to the tune of four hits, two walks and most importantly, zero runs allowed without the benefit of many Ks (1) as Alfonso picked up his third save in the club's eight wins, currently the third-most in the country.

  • McLin was the other bag-swiper along with Lorio after getting on courtesy of a base knock and the fifth/last hit of the day came off the stick of Chris Kelley.
