Errors Plaque Both Sides In Sloppy Game Two vs. Midland

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University baseball program had the same number of errors (5) as it did hits (5) in a recipe ripe for disaster as the two unearned runs turned out to be the difference in a 4-2 Valentine's Day heartbreaker against Midland.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Cy Fontenot might have the honor of being the best 0-3 pitcher in NAIA baseball this season, twirling six innings of four-run ball with only two of those being earned, walking none and whiffing nine Warriors, most of his strikeouts coming off balls in the dirt that kept the opponents guessing via nasty breaking balls.

  • Braden Trull was one of the positives during a mostly forgettable nightcap, scoring both of the team's runs following his two singles over three at-bats (.667).

  • Chris Kelley was the hitter each time the Wildcats scored, reaching first on a throwing error by the third baseman in the second before smoking an RBI-single through the 5-6 hole in the fourth.

  • Coleman Haltom contributed a scoreless final frame to keep the Cats within a bloop and a blast from tying things up, facing four batters and sitting down two of them on strike threes.

Next:

  • Due to inclement weather in the forecast, Saturday's doubleheader has been moved up two hours to start at 10 a.m. as both teams look to get one final non-conference tune-up in before RRACtion next weekend.
