WACO, Texas – Three members of the Louisiana Christian University women's soccer team were honored with
Giselle Laing and
Tanika Rother being named All-Conference Honorable Mention while Maria Papandrea was the team's representative on the Champions of Character Team the Red River Athletic Conference announced on Friday.
Laing, a junior forward from Freeport, Bahamas, was the top scorer for the Wildcats this season with 13 goals, which led the team, and two assists for a team-best 28 points. She took 41 total shots during the year, putting 30 on frame. This is Laing's first career RRAC postseason award.
Rother, a senior midfielder from Johannesburg, South Africa, started all 12 matches for LCU this season, scoring two goals and getting three assists for seven points. She made her name on the defensive side of the ball, helping lead the Wildcat back line throughout the year. This is her first RRAC postseason award as well.
Papandrea, a goalkeeper from Venice, Italy, finished the season with a 2-4 record in goal while getting a solo clean sheet and a combined clean sheet. She allowed 11 goals in her seven matches played for a 1.7 goals against average. She was named as LCU's representative to the RRAC's Champions of Character team for most embodying the NAIA's five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
The Wildcats finished the season 5-7 overall, 4-7 in RRAC play, earning 12 points on the conference table.
