HAWKINS, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University women's soccer team got braces from
Kamsi Nwosu-Damian,
Giselle Laing, and
Rose Blampain as the Wildcats rolled to a 6-1 win over the Jarvis Christian Bulldogs Thursday afternoon at Wendon L. Blair Field.
The Wildcats (5-6, 4-6 RRAC) picked up the victory in the match that was postponed from Oct. 18 due to the forecast for severe weather in the area that day.
LCU struck quickly, scoring in the ninth minute as Nwosu-Damian picked up her first goal of the day.
The Bulldogs (2-12-1, 2-8 RRAC) pulled back level in the 24
th minute as JCU was able to find the equalizer.
But it was Laing who put LCU in front to stay, getting both halves of her brace just 92 seconds apart as she found the back of the net in both the 33
rd and 34
th minutes to give the Wildcats a 3-1 lead. That's the way the match stood when the first 45 minutes came to an end.
Blampain also needed very little time to get her brace as just 2:09 separated her first goal of the day from her second as she scored in both the 70
th and 72
nd minutes give LCU a 5-1 edge.
Nwosu-Damian capped off her brace in the 85
th minute, scoring the match's final goal for the 6-1 Wildcat win.
Laing took eight shots in the match, putting five on target and scoring her team-leading 10
th and 11
th goals on the year.
Nwosu-Damian scored her first two goals of the season in Thursday's match, finding the back of the net with both shots she took in the contest. Her two shots were her first since she took one attempt at goal at home against North American in the second match of the season.
Blampain also needed just two shots to acquire her brace, getting her second and third goals of the season with her only other goal of 2025 coming at Texas College.
Maria White and
Tanika Rother were both credited with assists with White helping on Laing's first goal while Rother assisted on Blampain's second.
Marta Papandrea (2-3) went all 90 minutes in net for the Wildcats to pick up the win. Jarvis Christian was able to send just two shots her way during the match, only one of which was on frame.
The Wildcats will wrap up their 2025 season on Saturday as LSU Shreveport comes to Pineville for the final match of the regular season. Kickoff of Saturday's match against the league-leading Pilots (10-6, 9-1 RRAC) is set for 1 p.m. at Wildcat Field.
