Louisiana Christian Takes McNeese To Extras, Falls In 10 During Exhibition

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University baseball program played host to an NCAA Division I opponent for the first time in 16 seasons and nearly pulled off the shocking upset, forcing extra innings against the McNeese Cowboys before ultimately dropping the exhibition game by a final of 6-5 in ten.

The results from Wednesday evening's ballgame do not count towards Louisiana Christian's win-loss record or its statistics as the game was classified as an exhibition for the Wildcats and a countable contest for McNeese.

Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Andrew Yuratich dazzled in front of the hometown faithful, dicing up the Pokes' lineup with three frames of scoreless excellence as he did not surrender a single baserunner while striking out one.

  • Braden Trull went where few Wildcats have ever gone before . . . belting a solo home run over the 390 feet sign just to the left of dead-center that narrowed the gap to 5-4 in the sixth before LCU eventually tied the score later in the frame.

  • Adrian Aguilar was a stud at the plate yet again, going 2-for-4 (.500) with an RBI single and a score.

  • Gabe Spedale was the man who jumpstarted the offense, crushing a triple off the wall in right field before coming home on a wild pitch in the third to open the night's scoring on either side. He also drew a base on balls and promptly scored then too.

  • Cy Fontenot was the opener for Coach Byrnes, completing the first three outs unscathed and Jacob Bareswill was the other with no runs allowed, also getting three putouts.
