Wildcats Top Performers:
Â
- Coleman Haltom, an Itawamba Community College transfer, extended his scoreless inning streak to six-in-a-row to begin his LCU tenure on top of notching the team's first save of 2024, nailing down the series dub in the finale with a perfect 1.2 frames in which he struck out three and did not allow a runner.
Â
- Adrian Aguilar made it back-to-back days with a walk-off winner for the Blue and Orange after softball did it vs. Maryland Eastern Shore Friday evening, driving a first-pitch fastball through the left side in "extra innings" of an originally scheduled seven-inning ballgame to score Brady Sers and set off the celebration.
     Â
        * Between the two matchups, the righty hit .625 (5-for-8) with a pair of runs batted in, two scores, and a hit-by-pitch.Â
Â
- Nicholas Brunet came up to the plate at total of nine times and reached safely on seven of them, using his eagle eye to draw four walks, got plunked by another, laid down a sacrifice, and wrapped out two singles for an on-base percentage of .875.
Â
- Braxton Cooksey led LCU to victory in all three facets of the game, picking up the pitching win in game one with two whiffs over 2.1 frames, went 3-of-6 (.500) at the dish with a pair of RBI doubles, an RBI hit-by-pitch plus a run scored, and logged a 1.000 fielding percentage via two assists (one outfield assist) and a putout.
Â
- Cy Fontenot and Dylan Beier were workhorses when the bullpen needed them most following a taxing previous night where seven different relievers were used.Â
      * Fontenot went six-and-two-thirds for a no-decision in the first of the twin-bill, keeping the men within striking distance by surrendering just three runs with four punchouts.Â
      * Beier earned the W to improve to 4-1 on the young campaign, also allowing three scores and a single walk to go along with five strikeouts while LSUA hit only .200 against him.Â
Â
- Hunter Gotreaux also exuberated a calm demeanor and patience in the batter's box, coaxing three bases on balls during a 2-for-4 (.500) outing, coming around to touch home thrice as well as clubbing a two-bagger.
