Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Game one was the Caleb Duhon and Tyler McKenna show in the batter's box as the former was 2-for-4 (.500) with a pair of two-RBI doubles while the latter went 2-for-2 with three RBIs on two singles in addition to a walk and a run scored.

  • Game two saw Adrian Aguilar and Gabe Spedale steal the spotlight whereas Aguilar tallied three runs batted primarily on a two-run base knock on top of a free pass plus a steal and Spedale contributed two hits, two ribbies, and two scores as well as reaching on a hit-by-pitch.

  • Aguilar, the grad student playing against his hometown squad, also went 2-for-4 (.500) in the first contest, clubbing a double in that one.

  • The two pitchers of record for Head Coach Mike Byrnes were Cy Fontenot and Dylan Beier in the opener and nightcap, respectively. The righty (Fontenot) completed five-and-a-third while allowing a single earned run plus five strikeouts and the southpaw (Beier) struck out five in five complete as well with only two runs crossing.

  • Nicholas Brunet only had two hits, but one of them was a moonshot solo home run that matched Xavier's run in the top of the first frame in game one.

  • Brady Sers hit .500 (3-of-6) on the day as he smacked a two-bagger and came around to touch the dish twice while Gabe Spedale batted .600 (3-of-5), logging three runs, two stolen bases, two RBIs and reached base a total of five times altogether.

  • Coleman Haltom (2.0 IP, 4 K) and Braxton Cooksey (1.0 IP, 2 K) cooked with gas out of the bullpen in the finale, launching three frames of scoreless work, fanning six batters between the two.
