TEXARKANA, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University women's soccer program finished a remarkable year in which they broke the school record for most shutouts in a season (12) and that excellence had the Wildcats represented well in the Red River Athletic Conference's postseason handouts as Maria Alonso and Allie Kyle were First Teamers, the trio of Jaycee Woods, Emma Monnet and Maryane Mafra received Second Team nods, Daniela Gomez was listed among the RRAC Honorable Mentions, and Christa-Ann Kees made the RRAC Champions of Character Team.
Alonso, a senior midfielder from Boadilla del Monte, Madrid, Spain, saved her best season for her last, debuting on the All-Conference Team in her swan song campaign. She ranked top-25 nationally regarding both total assists (11) and penalty kick goals (2) while raking in RRAC Offensive Player of the Week honors on October 28. The Spaniard also was top-40 in the NAIA and fourth leaguewide regarding assists per match (0.58), slotting among the top-ten in single-season team records with two PK goals (1st), assists (2nd), two game-winners (7th), 21 points (9th), 22 shots-on-goal (9th), and 43 shots (10th).
Kyle, a senior defender from DeRidder, Louisiana, ended her career by making the All-RRAC squad each of her four years on "The Hill". She captained the best defense the university has ever seen, starting 19 of the 20 matches while appearing in all of them, contributing three points including the go-ahead score to beat Houston-Victoria.
Monnet, a senior forward / midfielder from Yzeure, Allier, France, joins her teammate above with earning four consecutive postseason selections as she will go down as the best player in team history, leaving behind program records for game-winners (11), points (111), goals (45), shots-on-goal (125), and total shots (206). In 2024, she tied for the most game-winners ever (4), the second-most shots (68), third-highest number of PK goals (1) and SOGs (42), fourth-best point (29) and goal (12) totals, and the eighth-best amount of assists (6).
Mafra, a graduate student defender from Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, finished her collegiate tenure with her first All-Conference nod. The former Jacksonville CC transfer partnered with Kyle on the historic back line, scoring two goals and an assist for five points, all while kicking down the other side's offense.
Woods, a senior goalie from Mount Pleasant, Texas, was recognized for the first time as one of the Red River's elite, largely credited to her brick wall mentality that led to three RRAC Defender of the Week accolades (August 26, October 21, and November 4). She played every second of every match between the pipes as the lone keeper on the roster, blanking 12 foes for a GAA below one (0.95), snatching 69 saves at a 78.4% success rate.
Gomez, a senior midfielder from Cali, Colombia, transferred in from Multnomah and made an immediate impact, earning All-RRAC Honorable Mention honors during her lone year as a Wildcat. She registered six points thanks to a pair of goals and assists each, providing the differentiating goal versus Southwest (New Mexico).
Kees, a freshman defender from Buckeye High School here in Pineville, she played a grand total of 27 minutes spread out between three matches this season, but that did not stop her from being the club's biggest fan on the sidelines.
The club will have to wait until 1 p.m. tomorrow to see if their season lives on as the NAIA Selection Show will be broadcast here.
