Wildcats Top Performers:

  • Brady Sers played the part of hero in the opener, smacking an RBI single with the bases loaded into the right field grass to lift the Cats to a comeback walk-off winner then he capped the evening's scoring with a three-run blast in the bottom of the sixth in the nightcap for his first dinger as a Wildcat. The former Arkansas State Wonder Boy, Nunez Community College, and LSU Shreveport Pilot logged a trio of base knocks, four ribbies, crossed the plate twice, and totaled seven bases.

  • Cy Fontenot seemed to be in mid-season form already, whiffing a half-dozen Devils in four frames, giving up three hits, a run plus a walk in a no decision.

  • Andrew Yuratich opened game two and came away victorious courtesy of four innings of one-run ball while Beau Ross claimed the dub after hurling a scoreless seventh in the walk-off.

  • Harrison Waxley built off his superb Saturday by batting .667 with four hits, three RBIs, three runs, and even showed some selflessness by laying down a sacrifice.

  • Nicholas Brunet reached safely five times (3 hits, 2 walks) while crossing the dish thrice and Caleb Duhon did so a quartet of times as well (3 walks, 1 hit).

Notes:

  • The Wildcats have now opened the year with the fledgling program (started in 2023) out of the Big Easy the previous two campaigns, outscoring the Bleu Devils 70-17 in those matchups.

  • Another HBCU out of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference pays Pineville a visit on Saturday when the Wiley Wildcats come to town for a 1/4 p.m. doubleheader.
