STERLINGTON, La. – The Wildcats of Louisiana Christian University open 2023 postseason play Friday when they face Jarvis Christian (Texas) in the first round of the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament.
Â
LCU, which finished second in the RRAC during the regular season, faces No. 7-seeded Jarvis Christian at 5 p.m. at the Sterlington Sports Complex, roughly 20 miles north of Monroe, La.
Â
The Wildcats (34-13) enter the tournament on a four-game winning streak and have won six of their last seven games. Their four non-conference wins to end the regular season included a win over the NAIA's No. 17-ranked team, Loyola (La.), and a three-game sweep of Southwestern Assemblies of God, which received votes in the most recent NAIA Top 25 poll.
Â
Louisiana Christian swept a three-game series from Jarvis Christian earlier this season and are 6-0 against the Bulldogs since returning to the NAIA in time for the 2022 season. The conference games between LCU and Jarvis Christian last season marked the first time the two teams had met since 2013.
