WESTWEGO, La. – Louisiana Christian University's baseball team posted another big win Tuesday as the Wildcats claimed a road win over NAIA-ranked Loyola (La.).
Â
Five different Wildcat players knocked base hits to lead the Wildcats (14-5) to the win over No. 23-ranked Loyola. The win was also the fifth consecutive triumph for the 'Cats.
Â
Drake Angeron went 3-for-5 at the plate and scored two runs in LCU's winning effort.
Nick Lorio went 2-for-3 and knocked an RBI single to score Angeron in the third, which gave the 'Cats a 2-0 lead.
Â
Fresh off a 4-for-5, 5-RBI performance Sunday against Jarvis Christian,
Ju'Juan Franklin came through with a timely hit in the fourth inning. His RBI double down the leftfield line scored
Adrian Aguilar and
Nick Moreau and stretched LCU's lead to 4-0. The hit would be pivotal as the Wolf Pack tied the game in the bottom half of the inning.
Â
Aguilar ended up with the game-winning RBI when his sacrifice bunt in the top of the sixth sent
Jett Aubé home with the go-ahead run for the 'Cats.
Â
A pitching consortium led the 'Cats to victory on the mound, with
Beau Hebert shutting the door on Loyola's fourth-inning rally and picking up his fifth victory of the season.
Colten Newsom earned his third save after striking out three batters over the game's last one and two-thirds innings.
