The Louisiana College Softball team will take their winning streak on the road this week as they head to Clarksville, Arkansas to take on University of the Ozarks. LC is currently sitting at 12-5 overall and 5-4 in conference play. They have been on fire recently as they have won their sixth in a row and they will look to take advantage of that as the Ozarks sit at a 5-11 overall record and are at 4-8 in conference play.
University of the Ozarks 5-11 (4-8)
The Eagles have struggled somewhat at the plate this year with a batting average of .281, 10th in the ASC. Paige Lee leads the team in batting with a .383 average on the season, one of just three hitters better than .300 on the year. Ozarks have had a hard time scoring as they have only had 74 runs so far for a 4.6 run per game average.
Senior Abby Mork has been leading the team in pitching. She sits with a 4-3 record and has pitched 59.0 innings, allowing 72 hits and 39 runs with an ERA of 3.68. Freshman Candace Rogers follows closely behind her with 24.1 innings pitched and an ERA of 5.47. The team has a collective ERA of 5.13, ninth lowest in the conference.
Louisiana College 12-5 (5-4)
The Louisiana College Wildcat softball team has been very impressive this year when at the plate. Senior and LC record holder for most bases stolen in Wildcat history Shelby Bergeron is currently leading the Wildcats with a .563 batting average. Following closely is junior Sami Walters who has a .444 batting average. The team as a whole is averaging .333 with 107 total runs scored this season.
Sarah Gartman has been surgical in the circle with an ERA of 1.95, and an 8-1 record. She ranks third in the ASC in ERA. Gartman has pitched 43.0 innings so far this season and Cameron Crochet sits right behind her at 35.1. Gartman is also leading the Cats with an impressive 41 strikeouts on the season.
The ladies will be traveling to Clarksville, Arkansas to take on The University of the Ozarks. The series will start with a doubleheader on Friday at 1pm and 3 pm. Game three will take place on Saturday at 12 pm. Following this three game series, the ladies will come home to Pineville to take on Hendrix College on March 18th.
