PREVIEW: Wildcats Return to ASC Play

The Louisiana College Baseball team hits the road this week as they travel to Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi for a three game series. The Wildcats sit pretty right now with an 11-5 overall record, but are currently at a dismal 0-3 record in the American Southwest Conference. This will be a series of many tests being the men have a perfect 9-0 record at home, but a losing 0-4 record on the road.

Belhaven University 6-10 (1-5)

Belhaven has not seen the success they would like to this year. They sit at a 6-10 overall record and are 1-4 in ASC play. They are coming off a three game sweep at the hand of Howard Payne, the same team that gave the Wildcats their three conference losses this season. The Blazers are batting .270 as a team with an opponents hitting .297 against them thus far.

Leading the team in pitching is Jacob Phillips with an ERA of 3.46. He is however 0-1 in the win-loss column. Leading the team in that category is David Hall who has a win-loss record of 3-1. Julyan Urena leads the team in batting average with a .360 average with nine hits, 25 at-bats, and five runs. Nick Lucido leads the team overall in runs with 14 and 47 at bats and Justin Milam leads the team with 12 RBIs.

Belhaven has scored 81 total runs scored on the season and have only scored six home runs. They have performed better at home as they sit with a 6-4 record at their home field, but the Wildcats will be looking to show they can play just as good on the road as they can at home.

Louisiana College 11-5 (0-3)

The Wildcats have been on an absolute tear as they enter the weekend with a seven game winning streak. Sophomore Clayton Noakes has been an absolute stud for the Wildcats leading the team with a .460 batting average and .565 on-base percentage. As a team the Wildcats are batting .317.
Pitchers Deauton Delgado and Konner McDermott lead the team in innings pitched with 35.1 between the two. Delgado leads with 22 strikeouts and also leads the team in ERA with a 5.59 average and is followed closely McDermott who has an average of 7.31. Delgado also leads the team in strikeouts with 22.

The Wildcats will take on Belhaven in Jackson, Miss. with game one Friday at 4 P.M. and game two will follow right after at 7 P.M. They will close the series with a single game on Saturday.
