PREVIEW: Baseball Series Shfits to Texas

Louisiana College baseball is on the road this week to take on American Southwest conference foe Howard Payne University as the season at their home field in Brownwood, Texas at Don Shepard Park.The three game series, originally scheduled to be played at Billy Allgood Field, was moved to Brownwood due to the wet weather in CenLA this week.

The men have been on an offensive tear to start the season and the odds look to be in their favor this weekend. The men have had a very strong start to the season, sitting pretty with a 4-1 overall record. It should be noted that the one loss the Cats have on their record came on the road in a low scoring performance at Centenary falling in a lay rally by the Gents 6-2.

Since then, the men have been on an absolute home tear. They started their home series with a double header against Champion College in which they won the first game 17-2 and their second with a score of 18-3. Last weekend they began a series of back to back doubleheaders against Austin College in which they won the first game 17-12 and the second game 14-8. There has been no shortage of offense from the Cats so far and they look to continue the streak as they play their first conference game of the season.

Howard Payne has struggled to start the season. They sit at an overall record of 3-7 and and are at the .500 mark at home sitting at 2-2. They are coming off a win however in which they beat Schreiner University 9-2 earlier this week. Howard Payne is looking to add some wins to their record and they are excited to begin conference play on their home turf.

The men will be looking for repeat performances from Brady Atkins, Clayton Noakes, and Ty Morgan who all had big games in their last outings. Atkins, Noakes, and Morgan had six runs in between them and they look to put even more up come this weekend.

The first game of the double header will be this Friday on February 22, 2019 at 12:00 P.M. and the second will take place the same day at 3:00 P.M.
