Wildcats Fair Well at McNeese

After two separate meets last weekend the Louisiana College men's and women's track and field teams return to a familiar place the weekend for just one outdoor meet, McNeese State University. The Wildcats competed there twice during the indoor season and made the Bob Hayes Cowboy Classic for their first outdoor meet at the Lake Charles campus. The Wildcats competed against 14 other colleges and universities from across the state and region including Division I powers University of Louisiana-Lafayette, University of Louisiana-Monroe, Northwestern State, McNeese State, and Southeastern Louisiana.

Competing against some of the top athletes in the state of Louisiana, the Wildcats were still able to hold their own, especially in their individual signature events like the shot put and javelin. The Wildcats produced three top 10 finishes across their event schedule for the weekend.

Coming off her second place finish last week at Mississippi College, Gracie Lacroix turned in a ninth place finish in the women's javelin, setting a new personal and LC best in the process with a throw of 118-10.75". The distance is the 10^th longest throw in all of the NCAA Division III standings. One of the other top 10 finishes came on the jump of Nathan Gautreaux, who cleared a height of 6-2.75" in the high jump. His mark tied him for ninth overall in the meet and second overall among Division III athletes.

Brooke Jones finished just out of the top 10 in the shot put with a toss of 36-2.25" for 11^th overall, with Kennedy Hall just a couple feet behind on her throw of 33-3.25". Nora Day had another busy day on the track and the field as she ran a 16.45 time in the 100m hurdles, 5/100^th of her personal best, turned in a jump of 14-7.25" in the long jump and had a ninth place finish in the triple jump with a make of 34-1.25", to finish her day.

The Wildcats will test themselves against some of the best once again next week as they travel to Lafayette, La. to take part in the Louisiana Classics hosted by the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
